Airport Area Winds / Mountaintop Winds

The Airport Area Winds display and the Mountaintop Winds display each contain the current one hour history of wind data from several anemometer sites.

The Airport Area Winds reports the airport area anemometers
ordered from west to east:

PD - Pederson Hill
08 - Runway 08 (West)
CF - Center Field
26 - Runway 26 (East)

The Mountaintop Winds reports the mountaintop anemometers and
the airport center field anemometer for reference:

EC - Eaglecrest
MR - Mount Roberts Tram
SM - Sheep Mountain
CF - Center Field

Each anemometer time series contains 3 panels of information about 1 minute anemometer data.

Panel 1

Panel 1 shows the history of the last hour of anemometer wind speed (white) and direction (yellow) one minute statistics.

The horizonal scale is time in hours:minutes UTC.
There are 2 vertical scales:

The yellow scale on the left is wind direction in degrees clockwise from magnetic north, rounded to the nearest degree.
This yellow scale corresponds to the yellow dots on the graph.
Note that wind direction is the direction the wind is coming from.
The white scale on the right is wind speed in knots, rounded to the nearest knot.
This white scale corresponds to all three white curves on the graph.
Note that the wind speed scaling is variable depending on the actual maximum wind speed but that all anemometers shown on the same page will have the same wind speed scaling.

There are 4 data curves:

The upper white line depicts the maximum wind speed in knots over the previous one minute interval.
The thicker middle white line depicts the average wind speed in knots over the previous one minute. Each measurement is indicated by a filled white circle.
The lower white line depicts the minimum wind speed in knots over the previous one minute interval.
The yellow dots depict the magnetic wind direction over the previous one minute interval.

Gaps in the data indicate that no current anemometer data arrived to the system during that time period.
Note also that no wind direction is indicated if the wind speed is below the calm threshold of 3 knots.

Panel 2

Panel 2 shows a compass view wind direction and speed over the most recent minute.

Along the top:
The number on the left (T -2C) is the average temperature in degrees Celsius.
The number on the right (Td NA) is the dewpoint temperature in degrees Celsius.
The "NA" designator indicates that the measurement is not available.

The white compass needle points to the current average magnetic wind direction.
The shaded region of the compass shows the range of the magnetic wind direction over the last minute.

Along the bottom:

The first number (320) is the one-minute average magnetic wind direction.
The second number (09) is the one-minute average wind speed in knots.
The third number (P13) is the one-minute "peak" wind speed in knots.

Panel 3

Panel 3 lists the date and time along with statistical values for the most recent minute:

MAXIMUM wind speed in knots over the last one minute
AVERAGE wind speed in knots over the last one minute
MINIMUM wind speed in knots over the last one minute
average magnetic wind DIRECTION over the last one minute

The two letter code at the bottom of the panel indicates which anemometer is displayed:

EC: Eagle Crest

MR: Mount Roberts

SM: Sheep Mountain

CF: Center Field

PD: Pederson Hill

26: Runway 26 (East)

08: Runway 08 (West)
